Grilled Amritsari Masala Fish Tacos

We enjoyed this fish recipe, from Cooking With Love and Spices, so much when we tried it recently, that we are repurposing it into an Indian-style taco.  This is how my younger son ate his fish the night we first tried it.  It’s quick, easy, and oh-so flavourful!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Serves: 4 people

  • Amritsari Masala Fish
  • 4 Naan bread
  • President’s Choice Peach (or mango) Chutney
  • Red Pepper Jelly
  • Raita
  • Diced Mango
  • Cucumber slices
  • Coleslaw

  1. Follow instructions for Amritsari Masala Fish.  Flake cooked fish into a serving dish.
  2. Lightly toast naan on the grill.  Spread peach chutney on half of naan, red pepper jelly on the other half.  Put flaked fish, coleslaw, cucumber slices, and diced mango in the middle and drizzle with Raita.

  • Any type of flaky, mild fish will work with this recipe.
  • I prefer peach chutney, but by all means you can use mango chutney instead.
  • If you want extra heat, sliced jalapeno peppers would be awesome in this.
  • You can use tortillas for this, but it lends itself so perfectly to naan bread so go for it!
  • Make sure you keep the naan soft and pliable.  Do not over toast it or it will become crispy and crack.  No one wants cracked tacos.

Meal Plan for the Week of July 28, 2018

My younger son is off to camp this week, so I don’t have to take his dislikes into consideration!  Actually, he’s pretty good–there’s not much he won’t eat.  I am going to a potluck networking dinner on Monday night, while the other two men/boys are home, so there are two dinner options: one I’m bringing with me, one the boys are eating at home. Which are you going to choose?  On Wednesday night I am hosting an information session for friends at our home, so some-kind-of-take-out is in the plan.  Preferably something with quick and easy clean up.  There are more links than ever in this week’s plan.  It’s time to revisit old favourites that are usually baked in the oven but will be done on the grill instead.

Meal Plan for the Week of July 7, 2018

We’re having a heat wave, and it’s not letting up this week, so quick and easy is the theme. We have friends with young kids coming over to barbecue on Sunday and we’re sticking to pretty basic BBQ food–hamburgers, hot dogs, and potato salad, and a quick, easy and delicious no-bake dessert so we get treats without the heat in the kitchen.  I have a busy day on Tuesday with back-to-back client meetings, and the a Wine Social at night–luck me!–so its pizza for the boys.  They have opted for Naan Pizza rather than take out.

Meal Plan for the Week of June 23, 2018

You may have noticed I didn’t post a Meal Plan last week, and for that I apologize.  There were two reasons: 1) I created a Meal Plan knowing I was developing a cold, and promptly went to bed for about a week, and 2) when I finally got up and around my laptop had decided to stop recognizing that the Internet is a thing and wouldn’t acknowledge it, so even though I wanted to post, I couldn’t.  As a result of the first issue, even though I had developed the Plan with my impending sickness in mind and therefore easy-to-make meals, it didn’t get followed.  Those boys ate whatever they felt like making (cereal and sandwiches, I’m guessing).  As for the second reason, after a good 6 hours of playing and searching for the issue with the laptop, my husband found the problem and was able to rectify it.  This week we are repeating last week’s Lost Meal Plan, since it was a good one, and every now and then you want easy.

Meal Plan for the Week of May 26, 2018

Whole chicken is on sale again this week and I’m thrilled! That means whole flattened chicken on the grill. We’re visiting South American flavours this week with Chimichurri Grilled Chicken, with a dash of Piri Piri for heat, layers of flavour and lots of char. And, as always, two chickens will be made and meals will be had with the leftovers.  The follow up meal this week is Enchiladas Suizas, or at least my version of them, and because the chicken is already cooked the prep will be quick.  I’m also looking forward to Wednesday night and the first grilled Hot Dogs of the summer season.

Meal Plan for the Week of May 5, 2018

Sorry this Plan is a little late this week.  They was a delay in getting my grocery flyers, and then I had needed to figure out whether or not I would have a grill to use this week.  Our old grill died a graceful death (not really, the bottom fell out of it!) after a moderately long but extremely productive life.  Since I make it a rule not to turn use the oven from, roughly, the May long weekend until about October, it is getting pretty critical for meal planning.  And with gorgeous weather in the forecast for the coming week, grilling is definitely in the Plan.  BBQ Achieved!
