Meal Plan for the Week of October 28, 2018

So, I know I have been a little erratic in my posts recently, and I apologize.  I’ve been having an ongoing health issue that has made posting a little difficult sometimes.  I’m going to be having a surgery soon that will address the issue, but I am trying to stockpile recipes so I can keep posting while I am recovering. Meal Plans will consist of old recipes and new ones so I can have as many links as possible.  And, I know it’s shameful, but I don’t have the energy to deal with Halloween this year.  My youngest stopped going out a few years ago, so we’re sneaking out for dinner.  Sorry, kids!

Meal Plan for the Week of June 9, 2018

We are still loving the grill, and the weather is supporting this love affair. We’re running the gamut of proteins this week: chicken, fish, beef, and pork (and beans!).   We had to make some adjustments to last week’s plan because life just got in the way, so the Thai Beef with Spicy Green Beans is on repeat because we never actually got to make it.  Monday is Corn on the Cob Day, so we will be having grilled corn with our fish tacos, because who are we to let a “holiday” go by unacknowledged?

Mongolian Hot Pot: Hot or Not?

Wednesday night I had a Girls’ Night with two very good friends (S and H), and I had the privilege of introducing them to the joys of Mongolian Hot Pot.  I had been one time previously and have been dreaming about going back ever since. For those of you who have never had Hot Pot, I will explain the experience to you.  And it is an experience—this is not just dinner, it is a complete food experience for the senses. The smells, the sights, the flavours—everything will tweak your brain’s happiness receptors.  This is not a meal for when you’re on a tight schedule. Plan for at least two hours of leisurely eating, and plan on leaving full. Continue reading
