Tequila Citrus Shrimp

This recipe came to me from an old friend, Bert Jager.  We were friends in high school but inevitably lost touch because of school, moves, etc.  We got back in touch a few years ago via Facebook, proving that social media can be a force for good.  He is a fellow foodie and we have been swapping ideas back and forth for years.  When he messaged this to me last week I worked it into the Meal Plan for this week because it just sounded so yummy!  He got the original recipe from a Sammy Hagar recipe book (who knew?), but then modified it a bit. Meal Plan for the Week of July 7, 2018

We’re having a heat wave, and it’s not letting up this week, so quick and easy is the theme. We have friends with young kids coming over to barbecue on Sunday and we’re sticking to pretty basic BBQ food–hamburgers, hot dogs, and potato salad, and a quick, easy and delicious no-bake dessert so we get treats without the heat in the kitchen.  I have a busy day on Tuesday with back-to-back client meetings, and the a Wine Social at night–luck me!–so its pizza for the boys.  They have opted for Naan Pizza rather than take out.

Meal Plan for the Week of March 24, 2018

Sorry for the late post this week.  Your blogger is experiencing technical difficulties.  Loblaws has their whole Free From brand chickens on sale for $2.49/lb this week, so we will be roasting two on Saturday and living off the leftovers for a few days.  The Free From chickens are worth buying, especially when they’re on sale, because they are a much more flavourful bird than the regular chickens.  And remember, since your oven is fully hot anyway it doesn’t cost any more to cook two chickens at the same time and get leftovers for easy prep meals during the week or to have cooked chicken on hand in the freezer.  The Chicken Tortilla Soup is going to be the featured recipe this week, so look for that posting Monday morning.
