It’s so easy to make tzatziki yourself, and you can control your ingredients and flavours.  In my case, it’s the only way I can eat it because I need to use lactose-free yogurt.
Prep Time: 10 minutes



  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup grated cucumber
  • 1 leaves of fresh mint, very finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper


  1. Squeeze grated cucumber in a clean towel to remove excess water.  Put in a bowl and add all other ingredients.  Stir well.


  • Letting the sauce sit for a while before serving will help develop all the flavours.
  • Omit the garlic and you also have a pretty decent raita for when you’re having Indian food.
